I was in a workshop Dwight Diller and I was playing our Cumberland Banjo. He asked me if I knew how to play Cumberland Gap. I did not. He couldn’t believe I had the nerve to play a Cumberland Banjo and not know how to play Cumberland Gap.
So I figured I’d better learn how to play it. I learned this version from Adam Hurt’s recording Insight.
I’m using the Sandy River Belle Tuning on this tune (gEADE) but for some reason that I can’t explain, I am tuned down to eC#F#BC#.
