The HAPI Slim Drum - A Minor Pentatonic

The HAPI Slim drum is a step up in size and tone from the HAPI Mini. It has a sleek design and can be carried with one hand. It has a powerful and full bodied sound. The eight note tongue layout adds harmonic tones to each note when played. The bottom port lets the sound out to fill the room. Isolating rubber feet located on the bottom of the drum allow it to be set on any surface for play

Play percussive and groovy beats if you are feeling energetic or play something soft and slow if you feel like relaxing. The pure tones of the HAPI Drum are ideal for music therapy.

Scale Comparison

The HAPI drums we offer come in two different scales:
People are often confused as to which scale they need. Hopefull the info below will help.

Although the scales have different names - they play THE SAME NOTES. Both scales work perfectly with our Reverie Harp.

Think of it like this -

  • There are only 5 notes in a pentatonic scale.
  • The five notes in the C Major Pentatonic scale are   C,D,E,G,A
  • The five notes in the A Minor Pentatonic scale are A,C,D,E,G
  • Did you notice that they are the same notes? They just start in a different place.

Check out the diagram below to see how the notes fall on the HAPI drums. Almost all of the notes are exactly the same, the only differenc being that the bottom note on the A Minor Pentatonic is an A3 and it goes up to a D4 and the bottom note on the C Major Pentatonic is a C4 and it goes up to an E5.
