Used Hammered Dulcimer (12/11)

This 12/11 hammered dulcimer sat in box for years. Doesn't look like it was ever played. There is a bit of corrosion on the strings but not much. And the frame has bowed slightly but that is to be expected.

This Hammered Dulcimer has a solid redwood soundboard which provides a warm, rich tone. The frame is made from durable maple laminate.

The instrument includes the display stand as shown as well some playing hammers and a case. The case must have been for a different instrument because it doesn't really fit, although it fits well enough to transport the instrument when needed.

The hammered dulcimer is a fascinating instrument to learn to play. It is kind of like a grand piano with the lid open and the sustain pedal on - you hold the "hammers" in your hands to strike the strings. But on the dulcimer the notes are separated about 1 inch apart, and tuned to just the "do-re-mi" scale (not chromatically) so it is easier to find and play the correct notes.
